We just have discovered that older coppers are using (gasp) racist ,sexist,homofobic hate talk.........its a big deal ,and the state gubmint is going to spend $200 million......yep ,200 ....to eliminate this talk ...........whats happened to this world.....good working people living in cars because there is no houses ,and the goddam state is spending $200m so coppers can talk proper.

Yes, and the greatest speculation as to who is and isn't PLA comes from their fellow overseas Chinese. They clearly understand that a number of PLA officers are here incognito, tasked (among other things) with monitoring Chinese citizens in America. They are extremely careful what they say among certain people.

Well ,believe it or not,the house nextdoor is owned by a PLA general....he bought it so that all his "grandchildren" can go to secondary school here free of charge......the local high is the 'top" high school in the state ,the Ed Dept has spent hundreds of millions there ,and Qld taxpayers are paying for it all.

That's normal. China families will frequently buy a house in the area where they want their kid to go to school. Overseas university is a status thing and a help in a very competitive nation. Haven't heard of going overseas for high school but it's common in cities to buy in another district for that reason. Nothing nefarious about it. Happens in the US as well with white middle-class families, they often choose where to buy a house based on the local school.

btw, as a house owner Mr PLA General is a Qld taxpayer. Or don't you have property taxes ? You think having shit schools is a good way to make progress in Ozztralia ?

Not the way the USA does, no. Local Govt rates, sorta the same in some respects, not in others. School funding is all Federal & State, nothing to do with property taxes.

Not sure about Qld, some States have property taxes on non-residents in addition to local Govt rates. An idea I heartily encourage - they can't vote and they've driven up the price of housing in the big Australian cities, so fuck them, tax them for the privilege of owning a place here.

OK ,the terminally woke should look away......but a common scam here is for permanent resident woman to claim she is a deserted wife with kids at school, ,husband has run away......in fact husband is working in HongKong ,banking money there .....wife and student children on Social Security benefit ,generally very upmarket house with maybe three or four new cars ,all same make ,model,but different colours............when those benz Smart cars were an item,youd see four new ones for the kids,all different colours...........As Ive mentioned before I live in a very upmarket Chinese area.....but in a fallen down shack on the old family farm.

Income tax, GST, mining royalties, stamp duty on property sales, God alone knows what else.

Doesn't matter, they still spend it all and then some.

Point is, funds get directed to schools that need them, in theory. Sort of happens in practice but there are some places where nothing seems to improve the situation. However that's a discussion for another time & place.

And there's a healthy & thriving private school system if you really want to pay tens of thousands per year to keep your precious child from associating with the riff-raff.

Well .the local high school is one of the top two or three in Queensland .....A centre of excellence ,says the Education Dept......they get the top 1% of academic results in Qld .......for anyone with kids lucky enough to live in the school qualification area ,its the equivalent of a expensive private school,but free ...Students from outside the area can apply,but there is a wait list of something like 10,000..........This unfortunate circumstance makes my dirt farm worth $25M.
