I keep hearing that this winter will be bad for manufacturing in Europe.

"totally irrational, excessive, near-sociopathic response."......

tually see benefit in a massive reset of the world's economy.

Kind of humbling in a way that my words provoke such an emotional response from you.....You made my day!
Well, let it burn is in fact a totally emotional response, with zero logic, so I guess that is the kind of thing one would expect

With the current leadership in D.C., both sides of the aisle, we can only hope.....
Hope what?
The gov't worked well enough with the draft and price controls and and and.. for you to get to where you are, but somehow, chaos is better than the sausage making that is modern politics

Please do show us how chaos and stupidity has rendered a working lifestyle for anyone anywhere any time.

Democracy is the worst form of gov't............except for all the other alternatives

Ah hell Gus...musta picked the "let it burn" thing from a stopover in Portland or Kenosha.....
Some plywood burned in portland during the George Floyd protests, but the actual damages due to vandalism were very small. a couple million, maybe. Vs the $3 million or so the Capitol Architect says will be needed to repair the damages from Jan 6...

I couldn’t find a better location for this.
Nice graphic on how the Nat Gas market is reshaping:

Isn't that scary when the 4th largest economy at one point in 2021 got above 60% in it's dependency on Russia for a vital energy source.
And to boot, a good amount of the Central and Eastern European nations depend on Germany for their economic existence.

To use the Great Hanermo's words: that is truly Madness!

Right now, over 2500 of the world's elite are gathered in Davos, Switzerland; enjoying the finer things in life whilst conferring with one another upon how they will continue to transition our world into their own private paradise. Make no mistake... The future of "Manufacturing in America and Europe" rests squarely in their well manicured palms...

Here is the list of attendees and which organization they represent. The CEO's of wal-mart, coca cola, underwriters laboratories, visa, Verizon, uber, the finance minister of Zimbabwe...

The professor of medicine from San Fran, the CEO's of PG&E, NASDAQ, Facebook and MasterCard, S&P Global, Rockwell automation..

Heck read the list for yourselves, I think you'll find it interesting...

People like this nice fella, Yuval Harari with the WEF...

While as recently as the 20th century, governments were able to look at their citizens through the lens of labor and production, now, they see a bunch of people who just don’t understand “big words” and are growing “resentful” over the fact that “the future doesn’t need [them],” because we “have all these smart people in California and in New York and in Beijing, and they are planning this amazing future with artificial intelligence and bio-engineering and in global connectivity and whatnot.”

In the 21st century, Harari says, “we just don’t need the vast majority of the population. Because the future is about developing more and more sophisticated technology, like artificial intelligence [and] bioengineering. Most people don’t contribute anything to that, except perhaps for their data, and whatever people are still doing which is useful, these technologies increasingly will make redundant and will make it possible to replace the people.”

After seeing her go legs up dumping a custom bike, she will get my vote.

Oh wait, lady president, she may not qualify but who cares.
I can see fox news getting behind her. She is foxy looking, if you like bleached blonde bimbos. the gal in legally blonde is more foxy. I am sure UPS would support Alicia Silverstone's campaign. With a name like Silverstone(r) I would think she would be a teflon candidate.

Seems like the Europeans have been able to pivot pretty well- after all, the energy market is a global commodity market, and there are always both buyers and sellers, depending on price.
I have been checking a bunch of Euro business news sites, and cant find a one that claims even 10,000 jobs were lost in 2022 in manufacturing- in fact, most are just quoting the same three factories I mentioned above.
Dunno how many of you were running shops in 2008, but I sure was, and compared to all the kerfuffle over russian gas, THAT was a real rodeo.
I lost 2 years of work, signed contracts just turning to dust and blowing away.
Laid everybody off.
Just 2 guys full time in the shop those days, plus a few part time office and logistics, so my layoffs were hardly felt in the 800,000 manufacturing jobs, out of 2.3 million US jobs in general, lost that year.
The arc of my business never really recovered, not to where it would have been if 2008 never happened.
And the overall affect on US manufacturing was huge.
I would have been very happy with a measly doubling or tripling of energy costs.
Came out fine in the end, and had a pretty good last 15 years, but that one did hurt.

Interesting analysis free…..

I do wonder about where this might lead though. It is hard to imagine such a substantial change yet the things which you mentioned are valid issues.

How can they tell people to stop reproducing though? Where would their market be without all of those people? Would these elites then just turn on each other at that point?

You can leave beijing out of this, they go waaaay out of their way to make sure that everyone can have a job. It may be a dumb job, like gardener in the park, but it's a job.
I think you misunderstood. That was a quote from Yuval Harari - a very vocal antihumanist adviser for the World Economic Forum.

I would never claim that humans are useless or deserve to be "replaced" by anything.

I quoted it because it shows the true nature of the self proclaimed "elites" who run the global economy and attend these remote meetings.

Those are valid questions TT...

Let's focus on the reproductive aspect;

They don't need to tell people to stop reproducing, all they need to do is stop promoting human health.

Push a narrative into the culture wherein girls can be boys and boys can be girls. Support gender reassignment surgery and puberty blocking medications for children after mind fuking them in schools.

Pump millions of dollars a year into abortion clinics and encourage young women to take the easy way out.

Do like Canada and legalize assisted suicide.

For everyone else, teach young women to be independent and career focused, tell them they don't need men. Tell young men that masculinity is toxic and that they should be ashamed of their aggressive nature to be better, faster, stronger.

Push people into virtual worlds of video games and social media. Treat depression and anxiety with pills rather than teaching people how to react to what their body is telling them and change their lives.

When all else fails, pack their food with GMO's, growth hormones, and chemicals.

Human civilization has been massively weakened over the last 50 years. Whether it was caused by some grand conspiracy, or the slow, progressive industrialization of our world - the outcome is still the same. You don't see "the science", media, academia, government or any other faction of authority in our culture calling it out. As a matter of fact they do the opposite; supporting big pharma, promoting obesity as health and never saying a word about the poison we consume every single day.
