The auto saw has to the best machine purchase I have made in a long time.........................I used top make 20 assemblies for this customer and it take 4 of these blanks..........80pcs. Then it goes to 50 assemblies.........then 75. Then 100..............and now 200. 800 blanks............I end up cutting 4 bars of 4"Ø 7075 into these cookies. There's also a pile of 5"Ø 7075, 3.25"Ø 6061, 3.25"Ø 1045, 2.25"Ø 4141HT, and tons of 6061 flats in various sizes...............And normally I make a double batch and inventory 1/2 for the next order. My customer knows this and really appreciates it...................now he just wants it all and will reorder as soon as these ship......................:willy_nilly:Man am I tired.

Did you ever have to tighten the spindle drive belts on your Doosan lynx's?
I'm getting more and more of a little squeak when I push go, starting to think its gotta be that.

I'm so tire of being tired.........................there just may be light at the end of the tunnel though late fall.(!!??!!?)..........10k lbs of stainless to chew through. (4 parts 2200 of each)............. Different customer has another round of a family of parts for a torque multiplying gearbox(20 different part numbers), piles of backlog on gun parts(who the heck is buying it all??), and everything in motorsports is just insane right now......................They all want it yesterday.......................

.................had to get the youngest kid out on the floor doin' some 2nd OPs................Don't wanna ruin him(gets bored and frustrated super easy) so I told him to run 30 parts then go do something else for a bit and then come back and run 30 more. Seems to be workin'................keeps the whining to a minimum. 30 or so done.............2200+/- more to go.:willy_nilly:

If you have more than a 1/2" of movement on the betls, you can adjust them. But, is your shop oily? Could be oil on the belts. Old wives trick, run a bar of Ivory soap on the inside of the belt while turning the spindle by hand. Dissolves the oil and adds grip. Temp fix though, maybe. How old are the belts? Belts are cheap versus the alternative.

Just wondering: That sure looks like a lights out bar-fed lathe job ? But maybe your lathes are all busy with other stuff.

Thanks Paul,

There is a bit more than 1/2". Machine only has a bit over 400hrs of cutting time on it, no oil, shop is clean and all the machines have mist extraction. Maybe some of it is how humid its been the last couple months but I doubt belts would stretch/swell much in humidity? plastic does though. Otherwise shop is at 68°F pretty much all year long. I'll see how it does with the drilling I gotta do next and maybe snug them up, things are drying up a bit now that winter is coming. Looks like I'd just have to remove all the end covers and loosen the 4 bolts on the motor place and it'll probably drop down on its own weight?

I'm gonna soon be checking into maybe a Lynx 2100 with Y axis, I can't keep up.

So how much carbide can I go through on a easy repeat job?(the pic is just a few inserts) I mean really..............2200pcs outa 1045. Gravy. Drop 'em complete with the nub to sand off.

Left hand top notch thread inserts started dyin' first.........tried a different grade. No go. 1/8" wide groover. Same story. CNMG and the VNMG chewin through edges. Lay down threaded stood up OKish and the cut off faired the best. Stringy crappy chips. Material just sucked!!! ................I mean c'mon, just finish 2000 pcs on 303 threadin' a 7/8-20 on one insert edge.

Thank goodness the last few parts will be droppin' this afternoon.................glad I had plenty 'o extra material.
