Did y'all see this?
I just heard it on 70's on 7 last night!
My main man Bill Fries died on Friday!
He's 93, so it's not really a sad thing as I wouldn't wish 94 on too many people that I would call friend, but ....
Still, back in '75 I was all over his hit song at the time!
I have come to love to listen to lots of his stuff.
We go to Colorado, I will bring up tidbits at times.
My chum mentioned Walsenburg one time.
(He's actually working on git'n a cabin/house built near there this year now.)
But at that time I told him:
"They's a bunch of wild women in Walsenburg. They make love like a buffalo herd. Wish I knew one..."
He asked me ".. and how would you know ... ..... ... uh ... that's in a song - isn't it?"
YEP! LOL!
But I have stayed overnight there once on NY's Eve, my boy was with me, and the cam sensor in my truck was bad, and it'd been a long trip already, so we didn't go scoutin' fer them wimmin.... But I'm sure that they are there!
And I know to stop for gas in Trinidad!
But more than anything, I am familiar with the 47 miles of Hell.
Been to the top and sledded it a few times, but I have never dared go down t'other side yet...
My boy said that he tried to follow the math, but just couldn't figger out the equazsion... (22,000/hour)
"If the Devil don't git'cha, then Roosevelt will!"
"Not a whole lot upstairs, but from there on down - Disneyland!!! "
"Kind'a reminds yuh of a couple'a Cub Scouts tryin' to set up a pup tent."
My man - Bill Fries
45 yrs later, I still know the lyrics!
Back in the day, as we were git'n around fer the bus in the morning, if I heard it on my radio station, I would call the neighbor kid.
He would listen to another station, and he would call me if they were playing it!
Had to'a drove our folks nuts! LOL!
I even bought my first (and last) TV LP from K-Tel to git that song on vinyl.
THAT was a terrible experience!

Let's mail a card to Mother and send them chickens on down t'other side.

We are runnun out of folks that can sing a song where ya can understand the words and have more than six words in the song. Good thing they recorded the songs I recon
From Booze's Link said:....American Death Rock Syndrom (that also brought us "Teen Angel", "Last Kiss", and "Tell Laura I love her")....
So - it boils down to the fact that there was a second pusher up in the guide bushing when I set it up and didn't know it, and it obviously was never an issue during the run.
"it was a dark & stormy night"...it must have been when you were setting the lathe up....
