One of my all time favorite lines from a song as a kid- "cleaned that top row of chickens off slicker'n the scum from a Louisiana swamp." Descriptive enough, and I STILL ain't never been to Louisiana to check out the scum first hand. :D

Did y'all see this?
I just heard it on 70's on 7 last night!

My main man Bill Fries died on Friday!
He's 93, so it's not really a sad thing as I wouldn't wish 94 on too many people that I would call friend, but ....
Still, back in '75 I was all over his hit song at the time!
I have come to love to listen to lots of his stuff.

We go to Colorado, I will bring up tidbits at times.
My chum mentioned Walsenburg one time.
(He's actually working on git'n a cabin/house built near there this year now.)
But at that time I told him:

"They's a bunch of wild women in Walsenburg. They make love like a buffalo herd. Wish I knew one..."

He asked me ".. and how would you know ... ..... ... uh ... that's in a song - isn't it?"

YEP! LOL!

But I have stayed overnight there once on NY's Eve, my boy was with me, and the cam sensor in my truck was bad, and it'd been a long trip already, so we didn't go scoutin' fer them wimmin.... But I'm sure that they are there!

And I know to stop for gas in Trinidad!

But more than anything, I am familiar with the 47 miles of Hell.
Been to the top and sledded it a few times, but I have never dared go down t'other side yet...
My boy said that he tried to follow the math, but just couldn't figger out the equazsion... (22,000/hour)

"If the Devil don't git'cha, then Roosevelt will!"

"Not a whole lot upstairs, but from there on down - Disneyland!!! "
"Kind'a reminds yuh of a couple'a Cub Scouts tryin' to set up a pup tent."

My man - Bill Fries

45 yrs later, I still know the lyrics!
Back in the day, as we were git'n around fer the bus in the morning, if I heard it on my radio station, I would call the neighbor kid.
He would listen to another station, and he would call me if they were playing it!
Had to'a drove our folks nuts! LOL!

I even bought my first (and last) TV LP from K-Tel to git that song on vinyl.
THAT was a terrible experience!

For about 6 months commuted every weekend from Cheyenne to Farmington, NM. Couple of times spent the night at the Rio Cucharos Inn Wasenburg. Nice place at the time with a very busy bar. Never got tired of the drive except 17 Cumbres Pass near Chama in winter. Beautiful drive all the way.

I did post about Tom's death at the time as well.
It's just in some nother thread somewhere....

IDK if I mentioned this at that time or not, but back in Oct '86 or '87 (Howloweenie) I heard on the radio a spoof of "I Love".
But I didn't catch who it was from.

It mentioned loving a bunch of gross things, and that he loved you too.
It was really funny, but I have searched Youtube for it a few times, and I just keep coming up snake eyes.

That must be it.
I guess I needed to change the search criteria to "like" in stead.

Looking back at the comments, it seems to be the right time frame.
[per the comments] I have Dr. Demento disk, but this isn't on that one. (or two?)

Opened up the Tornos to change size just now, and found this.
It took a bit to come to a decision as to how this happened, and/or is even possible.
Any takers?

As per the pic above, that shows a pusher (bar feeder collet) between the spindle collet and the guide bushing.
I found this when I was tearing it down to change over to the next size.
It took me a while to finger out how in the world that got there, until I went to the feeder and saw that there was indeed a collet on that as well.

So - it boils down to the fact that there was a second pusher up in the guide bushing when I set it up and didn't know it, and it obviously was never an issue during the run.

So I was wanting to fetch a spare hydraulic unit that was down in the barn at home....
On the top wrung of the pallet racking....
Clear in the back of the building.

So I'm draggin' out all kinds of schtuff, makin' a path to git to the racking, and out come The Mrs..

"What'cha dooin'?"

"Well, you know how when you dig up all (some?) of your mason jars just to run yuhr fingers through it all?"

(blank stare)

"Well anyhow, this is the machinery equivalent of that."

[pause]

"O _ K :rolleyes5: so what'cha really dooin'? "

I actually have one machine here placed with a wall behind it that is intended to have the sheetmetal come down and then it is framed in for this machine behind that.
