You will find that the poly vees run much better on the groove side ,and have plenty of grip to replace a flat belt...........I get mine even cheaper at the car salvage ($1).......cut the poly V ,and lace them back together with Stihl weed eater cord ,using the groove for the cord to lay in............In fact this works so well ,I started cutting and lacing ordinary vee belts instead of buying new ones.(I have tons of NOS belts ,never the size wanted)
I do have one running inside out on my 10EE doing feed shaft duty, it's been fine for years.

Well, the poly-vee belt arrived today. It's 48 inches and will work great with a pivoting idler pulley to tension it. This one has a more plastic-harder outer covering, and more rubbery inner where the Vee's are. So I think in this case, I will be running the Vee surface on the flat belt pulleys. It feels quite grippy.
