I just got a very old one of these HC machines. Actually this started out as a HCT but all the threading stuff is long gone.
I can not for the life of me find a serial number anywhere on it. Can anyone point me to the right place to look?
It is very old, no variable speed and the cross slide dials are quite small. The only problem I have found so far is the broken off carriage handwheel.

You suppose the lathe fell over during transport to break the handle? Seems like many people do not tie them down well enough when moving them.
Just looked at my later HLV-H and the serial number is in 2 places. One right above where the collet closer bolts to the headstock. The other behind and below the dovetail at the extreme end of the bed. Earlier HCs will be different, later HCs would be similar, I guess. Your HC may have had them painted over, heavy paint will do a good job of hiding it. I have never found the serial number on my AHC. It was purchased directly from Omniturn as a conversion and was nicely painted when I got it
