Hey guys. Glad to find this thread and links to the VM site. I just picked up this 2ch at auction recently. Looks like the machine is November 1957 and the vert head in march of 57. Cool info.

Brought it home. Still haven't got it in the garage but i test ran it and it all seems to be in good working order:

Nice machine! Now, that is a std hi speed universal milling head.. When you take it off or put it on, you will discover that there is a trick to it...Do not just loosen the clamps and try to pull it off with the overarms still engaged in the head assembly... There are spacer discs on the gears that will interfere with one another....Bring the head all the way to the column, bring the overarms flush with the column so they are disengaged with the head then you can lift the unit off... Cheers; Ramsay 1:)

Someone must have added that aluminum section.. Maybe they used it in that position all the time..On my 2h, you can see the turning shaft. You're going to have to remove the overarms from the head and retract the arms flush with the column before you can remove the unit....If you want, you can just separate the two sections or at least on mine you can...You had better have something to lift the unit with as it is very heavy.. I have a parking bracket on my machine.... You have to be able to lift the drive bracket to remove it so the spacer discs clear....That is my experience with this type of unit on my 2h...Cheers; Ramsay 1:)

That's a good looking machine Mr zamboni.

Here is my 2H Universal. Serial 9-4358. Lot of 25, March 1943 (WEST) -whatever WEST means

It did time at Textron and I'm assuming went through rebuild at some point where the overarms and handles were chromed. I have a lot of the original accessories, including a rotab drive housing (but no rotab). Sadly the change gears for spiral indexing parted ways with the machine long before I got it. Overall a very nice machine to use.

Ramsay,

Thank you for the info. I'll put that note in the manual and take a look if I'm ever in the knee on it.

I have a drive gear and original drawbar for the vert head. I knew about the rarity of them and made sure it was in the tooling lot before I talked myself into the rest of the mill. I'd love a parking attachment, but I think that'll take finding a parts machine to rob, and those are in short supply here in the Pacific Northwest.

Just bought this Kearney Trecker 307 S12 vertical. Serial 16/9261

Is someone able to give me year and approximate weight of this unit?

Your machine is #16 of 40 units in lot 9261 from December 1962. Weight would exceed 6400 pounds.

I have a what I was told is a K&T 2CH Horizontal/Vertical Mill. SN: 9-8943
There aren't any markings on it to confirm which model it is.
5HP motor. 50"X 12" bed.
It's in excellent shape. Just starting to clean it up.

New here.
I picked up a K&T 1H serial 21-2711 last fall and I'm finally getting around to setting it up. Can anyone tell me the year it was made? Also any clue on where to get a manual for it?
Thanks
