Exactly...apparently Baileigh is one of the few companies out there that realizes this. Or maybe others realize it but are a little afraid of dealing with inevitable negative publicity that will surface on a public forum from the curmudgeon contingent. Even huge "internet only" concerns like Machinetools.com get one fifth the unique eyeballs of PM.

Having said that, it's my understanding the ink is not quite dry on this deal yet.... note there is no moderator....still waiting on someone from Baileigh to take up the mod gauntlet

Yea we stole lots of nice idea you Brits had....and now we are giving that knowledge to the ........ as fast as we can for a little quick money. Thats just me being scenical but it is also true. Nothing to do with the idea of this subforum. If you take the time to look at their website they do tell you which machines are made domestically and which ones are not. Sorry I didnt see any made in the UK.

Well lets hope that goes through soon, I would love to see more information on some of the products. That new power hammer looks very interesting, I have already seen a video on it.

I am not usually a fan of newer/imported tools, for all the reasons mentioned here. I have never used anything Baileigh but I see the equipment in a lot of shops, and on car shows, etc. I went and looked at their site and if you had the cash and needed tools, you could make a pretty nice shop with what they have. Not saying I would do that, but they have some capable stuff.

Doesn't bother me a bit........I could not care less if a "feminine products company" wants to sponsor a forum.........as long as I am not required to visit the forum unless it interest me. I say take the money brother.
I do not know this for a fact but....I think it is fair to assume this site was not started as a charity or a non profit endeavor.

I spend a decent amount of time over on the Hamb and Baileigh has a presence there in the form of an employee that is a car enthusiast and he has helped get them to sponsor the Tech Week every year where the winner gets something from Baileigh and such. It has never been over bearing advertisement, pushy or anything bad. Seems like everything I have seen of them online portrays them to be good guys. I know of lots of shops that have their stuff, I have not used it myself, don't do much at all in that arena.

Tell you what I am gonna do there. Baileigh send me one each of your machinery for qualification and I will moderate your forum and make videos of your machinery in action.
Yup, that's what I would do.

In no way do I mean this rude or annoying...just my view.

Some Baileigh sheet metal tools that I see for sale online appear to be the same as Harbor Freight models, just a different color. I am aware that they import machines/tools from Chinese factories. I am not aware of any Baileigh tools made in USA.

That doesn't mean they are necessarily therefore junk, but it definitely raises questions in my mind. I hate that insulting feeling when I purchase (or almost purchase) a tool only to realize it actually is the exact same as a Harbor Freight model, but 3 times the price because of hype.

Baileigh has been pushing their name heavily in automotive resto and fab forums for a while now. Again, no offense or unfair criticism intended.

On a good note, I would like to try out the magnetic brake they offer.

Most of their stuff is much larger than the things HF sells.
I just looked around their site a bit... Open 2 pages on your computer side by side... One baileigh, one grizzly. You will find different color paint. There is definite product overlap, especially in their woodworking line and metal lathes.
Baileigh has a broader offering of metalworking machinery tho.

Just to educate you guys a bit.......1/3 of Baileigh Industrial's product offerings are made right here in Wisconsin. Tube benders, tube notchers, welding positioners, power hammers, bead rollers, shrinker / stretchers, mandrel benders and a few new machines that will be ready to hit the market in the next couple of months. Our factory is right up the road from our world headquarters. Any machine that you see is yellow is made in the US.

Baileigh does have world wide manufacturing to keep up with the demand of our products. Our Roll benders are made in Portugal, many of our industrial machines (hydraulic shears, brakes, plate rolls, iron workers, press brakes and presses) are made in Taiwan. They are extremely high end imports.

Baileigh tries to offer a little something for everybody, so we do offer an "E" line of machinery as well. Economical machinery that is made in China. Many of our entry level metal shaping products fit into this category and are geared towards small shops or home fabricators...

I have quite a bit of machinery in my shop, and everything but the dewalt chop saw is American made. Everything is at least 20 years old for that matter.

I do have to say that the magnetic brake is awesome. My old boss got it early and he loves it. He does mostly aluminum roofing (up to .050 alum) and uses a piece of steel to do the actual clamping. He really likes the way he can make almost any bend. The versatility in making 4th bends and such are great. He has box and pan brakes but the mag brake is always faster and easier to set up.

It's nice to see a guy from the company participating. That's pretty cool and I think that will go a long way in getting the product in the hands of people who might have not considered them to begin with. I have never heard of the brand myself but will take the time to check them out now.

I think the Sub forum idea is a great thing and we could get a lot out of a direct link to the inside.

This no longer appears to be true, looking at the DBG-62, I cannot find anywhere on the page it lists the country of origin. Why did you change this? How large a percentage of your product is import vs domestic now?

About 1/3 of our product offerings are made here in the US. The DBG-62 is manufactured in China. It is an entry level machine geared towards small shops and home fabricators. If you are looking for a production style machine, we do offer larger single and three phase units that do quite well in production facilities.
