Try a tie rod end puller and whatever round stock (socket) can get to inside of chuck. Just check first with mirror, on off-chance that it uses a reverse-thread screw, like hand drills.
I too realize how old this thread is, but I'm really trying to fix this, it is far better quality than anything you can find at home depot or lowes. Mr. TrollForge I saw your video on YouTube and was impressed by your knowledge and abilities. You responded on YouTube and I tried to share pictures, but I don't know if I did it correctly. I will try again on this platform and will ask for your advice. I tried pressing the chuck back in with a bottle jack, off the base not the table, no telling how much pressure I'm putting on it so I tried to be gentle. 3 times it fell out or the chuck let the 1 3/8" bit loose. maybe I'm asking too much?bean5, I realize this is a seven month old thread, but I was wondering if you got a new chuck. From what I can see in your photos I am wondering if you have the same machine as I do, marketed under a different name... Do you have more photos of the rest of the drill press? I just posted a video of mine over at YouTube.
Mine is a Long Chang Machinery CO. LTD. LCN-14.
Mr Forge. this is what I have going on and you are my last hope till this thing ends up rebar. Chuck falls off with larger diameter bits... this time it is 1 3/8" with a 1/2 inch shank 1/4" mild plate. I SLOWED it down as much as i could , pilot hole .. then 1/4 pilot hole... then 1/2 pilot ...1 3/8" chuck falls off every time. I used a bottle jack to press it back on and still.... fell off or loose. I would like to replace the shaft? mandrel? we will call the woman because chuck is let go and tries to come back but is always ....sorry for the late late reply. I can post more photos later, but never got a new chuck for it. Using the same one. I don't want to put too much into the drill, but if I do end up working on it, I would have to replace the arbor first since that's all chewed up. It could be the same drill press though, this one was made in taiwan I think.
