I'm assuming he took a PS/2 keyboard library and dropped it in, then replicated the matrix pattern Fadal used for the keypad.
The Parallax Propeller is suitable for this as well, there is a ready made PS/2 OBEX object and they sell experimenter board with PS/2 ports. You'd have ~24 I/O available for matrix encoding.

Could you please elaborate? I'm facing problems with the keyboard on my Fadal, I was thinking about incorporating a normal pc keyboard but haven't figured out yet how I will do that.
