Please do read it. You will not get so much information about threading at any single place, including the Smid book.

Please note that the description is based on Model C. In other models, certain minor differences can be observed. These, however, will generally not affect the construction of the program.
For example, in Model C, the tool reaches the feed-start point in two linear moves (as shown in my book). But, it is a single linear move in Model D.

The programmer does not have to worry about such differences.

Likewise, I have not talked about E-word in G76.

There will always be a few things which you will not find in any book, and learn yourself.

Most of you know how to use G71 for machining from right to left. However, some of you might not be knowing how to use it for machining from left to right. For example, let us assume that we have a blank shape, as shown in the figure, obtained by casting or whatever. This is required to be machined to obtain the desired shape shown in the figure, by removing the shaded material.

If you are not too sure how to do it, please read the book. This is one of the six fully-explained examples in the book.
Likewise, there can be a few more things which some of you might not be knowing, and which may not find a mention in some of the most popular books.

Of course, the book is free, for a limited period.

What is the disadvantage of using G01, rather than G00, in the P-block of G71/G72/G73, specially in case of G73?

Read the book for the answer to this as well as several less-known facts.
