It doesn’t show well on the OP’s picture, but it’s actually a very nice Tuscan red. Same colour as the old Pennsylvania railway colour, and perhaps more to the point, the Canadian Pacific...

Nice to see this lathe found a home.

Haha pretty close. I think you were closer with the Canadian Pacific colour. Ill try and get the paint code. The Monarch and shaper came from a fine gentlemen in Port Coquitlam, Some of you might know him as "collector" on here.

it originally was purchased as a production machine for Caterpillar out of Ohio in 1971.

Indeed, we do!

And he is not the ONLY one to appreciate the colour.. most especially in a world of OSHA green, tired-the-f**k-of-it greys, garish neon blue ... and gaslight-era whorehouse-BRIGHT-red 10EE. Even metalflake ORANGE?

I did say "elegant?"
