I'm looking at purchusing a Clausing-Cholchester 13X40 lathe. I have not gone to look at it yet but I am told that it is a 6500 series SN. F3/57607 1966/1967 I am told that it is capable of cutting 45 different inch threads but not metric threads. Are change gears availible and if so how much of a hassle will it be to switch from english to metric threading and back. What expense will there be involved to make this model metric thread capable. I'm new here so bear with me. I really enjoy the web site so far. Lots of knowledge here. From what I have gathered so far this lathe will cut metric threads but it sounds like it is more hassle than its worth.. My only experience with this has been on lathes that just switch back and forth with a lever so it doesnt take too much brain power for that.
