Hello,
I’m looking to buy my first VMC for use in my garage, doing prototype work and small run production.
My search has led me to 90s era Fadal’s as a solid and cost effective first machine. I’m looking for something that’s mechanically sound, possibly needs a little cleanup / TLC but overall is a good runner. Id prefer it to be prewired for a 4th axis. Dream config would be to have a 4th included with wireless probing. Willing to spend up to $12k depending on options and overall condition. I’ll consider box ways if they’re in serviceable condition or have been refurbished. I have enough projects at the moment and don’t have the time to tear another machine apart to fix it. For what I’m doing linear guides are probably preferred due to ease of maintenance.
Ive seen a bunch of machines on Craigslist and auction sites in the Midwest (IL, MI) but am concerned that I’m going to get killed by shipping costs buying a machine from there. If anyone knows of or comes across one a bit closer to SW PA (Pittsburgh area) please let me know. Thank you
