Looking for a local machinist, retired, spare time, or just a machinist

Who may not have a home shop, and needs somewhere to do some personal work at. I'm a self taught let's say hobbiest. I have over the past 6 years ish, put together a fairly respectable shop. 2 milling machines, actually 3. I forget about the bench top that was converted cnc. This was not explained in listing. So after a 1&half hour drive to Chicago, I still purchased because price was right & my nephew works Microsoft in chi town, figured he could help with only thing that didn't come with, SOFTWARE! He's way to busy, I'm tech suck. Anywho , it's been sitting in corner 4 good while. Back on track here , a Jet 1340A lathe, honestly I've had it for almost 2 years & it actually still looks new, I thought the lathe would be my strong suit, but not as of yet, fell in love with my Mills & have neglected her. I always have a new project that allows me to end up neglecting her. As far as work holding, measuring , tooling ect. Everything else I would and plenty I don't need also. I am truly all the extras needed for machinist work. I am extras poor. Not to mention all the other tools and equipment I picked up over the last 35 years, welder , compressor , cutting tanks, vises , & tons of stock I picked up at auctions, ( aluminum- round&flat, every grade of metal, from very large pieces to very small, s.s., cold rolled, flat , round, I even have Delrin or Acetal, flat & round. I have accumulated plenty. Do what I'm ask n is , looking 4 someone who lives farely close that has the knowledge & training to help me learn plenty that I don't. I feel as though I have hit a wall & in return your more then welcome to use my shop at will & I will learn something new by watching or helping or we can come up with something . Anywho just an offer, I live in NW Ind. I'll check my messages or responses. If I can remember how .lol sorry so long, can't sleep & came across this tapa talk. Thanks

Seems like there are quite a few of you guys in the Aland islands, I don't know how big they are but there must someone close by.

Where are you? If you're in my direction I could give you a few pointers and such. I know the Aland Islands thing is just some kind of glitch, they obviously aren't an hour and a half outside Chicago. I'm about 45 minutes to an hour southeast of Chicago.

I must have missed that in the wall of text. Didn't see it on re-read either. Saw NW Indiana, but not Lafayette. If it is Lafayette, that's about an hour from me straight down I-65. OP, I don't need to use your shop, but would be willing to help out with your questions and some hands-on time if you need it.

Maybe its my antique desk top - says his location - other than the island business - is LAFAYETTE

Actually I live in Renessalear ,In. Was being general by saying Lafayette ,In. As I figured it's bigger & more people know where it's at. But I normally don't allow myself to get I'll about some stupid idiot . One who clearly has issue with my punctuation and spelling. Somehow belittling me to build yourself up. Anywho, to the others, I really don't know what I said to cause such distrust or such a backlash. I truly don't believe I was asking anyone to put themselves out or looking for a handout. I thought I was speaking in a matter a fact or just plain general when it came to a little help from someone who lives close by or help by answering a couple questions in someone could spare a couple minutes for an email or text. Or GOD forbid, may b even a 5 minute phone call. I also think I mentioned, nevermind I'm not defending myself for , heck I truly don't know what I said. I appreciate y'all s comments , they taught me a good lesson. As for safety you scared little moma's boy. I have a wife & a daughter . So I didn't plan on having someone over tonight . And as far as Mr. Put this one in the record books. I would be more then willing to meet you any where. But instead, you just hide behind that computer & spew all the junk you can, because there are no consequences for anything you say or do. As for everyone else, I apologize. Normally I'm pretty laid back , but sometimes things are going really bad already, then you read people's comments & well. You get it. And also sorry for ask n 4 a little help. I'm good, I'll figure out what I needed a little help with. I thought I was clear that I've never been on a site like this or any to be honest, said I was not tech savvy, but figured ide give it a try. My bad. And one last apology, sorry for being so long winded. Oh yeah, Mr. Put me in the record books. I'm 51 years old, so I'm sure you would have know problem making quick work of me. So my offer does stand, meet ya any where so you can take that smart mouth & say any & all you have to say face to face without an audience . But I'm pretty sure you're going to continue to sit behind that computer in your mom's basement . Paying no bills & adding to your credit card debt from all the online porn sites that I'm sure your a platinum member by now. Oh yeah and all the medical bills your incurring from carpool tunnel , tennis elbow , torn rotator cuff ect. You know. I actually feel lot better now.

Nobody is "belittling" you. It's just common sense. A long paragraph like that is hard to read and
some people aren't going to bother. Breaking it up into smaller paragraphs is just using good
english...
