Dating a WS No 5 M-1740

Hi all, just got a new toy for the shop. I'd like to pick up some literature on it. Not sure if the era it's from would make much difference on this, but hoping someone could give me an idea of what vintage this may be.. Lot Number is 54 and Serial Number is 587627. Thanks in advance!

This machine just came out of service on Friday last week.. It came with boxes of tooling.. Seeing as I'm no machinist, I just make metal chips, that would be a huge help in figuring out what some of this stuff is.. I've got a bit of learning to do coming from using that Sidney lathe from my other post..

Pick up a copy of W&S book "The Turret Lathe Operator's Manual". It's chock full of how-tos and other info.

You CAN date a WS #5, but better ask her daddy FIRST... and treat her very nice, she could hurt a guy pretty quick...
