Why is Bridgeport cam ring loose in low position?
From recent experience. The two set screws that keep the cam ring in place. Remove them from their thread holes. You will find another two holes at about 90 degrees. I found that the heights of the two sets of holes are not in perfect alignment. Use one set and the height of the cam ring is too...- rons

Why is Bridgeport cam ring loose in low position?
A cam ring move from low to high speed and the pulley assembly does not lower. It plops down immediately under power. Whether that is healthy I don't know.- rons

OT: Recommend a wet tile saw. Above the quality of the walk-in stores?
Last time I did a tile job myself. The outlet for the tile let me come back any time to make cuts on their saw in the back. Tight-wads didn't change the blade at all. -

Without the neutral I had some damage to plugged in stuff. If you want to seek revenge on somebody, just cut the neutral wire on the house. -

Can anyone tell me what happened to this jumper cable?
My neutral cable in the power line was chewed through by squirrels. The PG&E lineman told me that the squirrels sharpen their teeth doing that. He said that the company can save a lot of money by giving customers in a high-squirrel-environment air rifles. -

Modify Carbide Tool
Just don't use water or anything else to cool down the carbide. You can let it get red hot. You can use a regular abrasive wheel but it will take longer. -

Hardinge HLV Lathe
This one is a more advanced HLV. The speed control is not a lever. The closest to a 6" model as it gets. The only difference between this model and the HLV-H: - bed is narrow. - spindle stop button is on the back of the head. - head bolts are inside casting.- rons

Tips for moving a lathe around on skates
HTC mobile machine bases. Get some ideas and make a real beefy mobile base. With these HTC ones there is a bolt that screws into the tire to keep it fixed. What you should do is allow for screws pointing down to lift the wheels off the floor. Providing leveling at the same time...- rons

HLV-H clutches
The question is how do you like your pork? A very large depth of puts more force on the back end of the entire top. Screws, sliding surfaces. Does it cause more wear on the top?- rons

VFD vertical mounting or the VFD cops show up?
The last box I worked on was 16W x 20H x 8D. Any sizes bigger and they get real expensive. Probably if you need something bigger then the VFD is the box.- rons

How long will the tubes be? Four or eight feet? What end cap connections? The single spring type or the dual element? I use the single spring type because the fixtures were made for fluorescent bulbs. In my opinion, keep your fixtures rather than buying new stuff that is not made as well. I... -

Ask about powering it up with a variac. If you see the thing try to move as you bring up the voltage then it probably is ok.- rons

Good shop lights for 8ft ceiling?
Did the same thing with eight foot lights. Remove ballast and reuse fixture. Bought four bulbs for two fixtures. Experimented on what distance they should be from one another. That reduced the number of fixtures by 1/3. It's still bright. And no more humming from those ballasts. -

OT: Where is flexible gas line with flared ends?
Another thing about water connections. The fix up stores have all the rubber grommets or washers you need. What's wrong with making Teflon substitutes? The rubber seals always turn hard and crumble away.
