Why pistol drill and tap these 1/4’ holes when it so much more fun on a Devlieg?

The novelty will wear off. I don't find drilling and tapping holes on the devlieg to be much fun at all. While it has a lot of room on the table for odd parts like you're doing,
watching my CNC locate, drill and tap holes, in a twentieth of the time doing them in a Devlieg, is WAY more fun. What is that part in your jigmill? Almost looks like a chopper gun made fiber glass part. Granted it wouldn't fit in a vertical machining center.

I just read your other post on getting this Devlieg. I THOUGHT it looked like it had an extended column. That's really nice to have three feet. Your machine looks pretty nice. As a word of caution, my 2b-36 was a great machine to use, but I was really having problems with the electrical contactors. The last time it was used, the table was in rapids and the motor contacts welded themselves together, It would NOT shut off! It rapided so hard, I had to dismantle the table to release tension on the leadscrew. The CURE for this is to have a switch box that you can hit without running around the back of the machine to turn off the main switch on the electric panel. When it's in rapids, you don't have time. An emergency stop switch that shuts off ALL power to the machine. Maybe you'll never need it, but if you DO, you'll thank me.
Your RED button won't shut off your feeds if the contactors weld themselves together.

That part is from an old visible gas pump. It’s the base. I’ll try to post some pics of the whole pump.
this is a paying job for me. I’m guessing I might live 10 more years in good health. I hope I can use the Devlieg for that time frame without those kind of electrical issues. Who knows.

The major problem I’m having currently is leaking oil from the spindle. I’m sure a gasket needs to be replaced. Anyone out there have any experience with that job?
