Repairing Start-Stop levers on L&S Powerturn

I purchased a Powerturn last year that had both Start-Stop levers poorly brazed back together where they had been broken by something hitting them.

Other than this problem the lathe seems to be in great shape. It was fully rebuilt about 10 years ago and came with a two speed tailstock, 4 way rapid traverse, taper attachment, direct reading length attachment, steady rest good quality 3&4 jaw chucks and a DRO.

Given the nice overall condition of the lathe, I would like to remove and properly repair or replace the power control levers. What isn’t clear to me after reviewing my repair parts manual is how to best remove the bar-control rod so that I can take the power-control levers off.

What is the best way to remove the bar-control rod?

A photo of the relevant page in the manual or a photo of the lathe would help a lot. I’m not familiar with a “ bar control rod “.

Regards Tyrone.

I finally have some pictures of the broken handles. The broken handles are located immediately to the right of the QC gearbox and apron.
