FWIW they balance exactly under the spindle nose with the chuck removed. If you can hoist it from this position it won't take much to control the balance.

I like to lift a lathe by the webbing in the bed
With this lathe with the carriage you can balance the load probably
I always place a bar in the chuck beween the sling
So it cannot fall over that far

Thankyou. I had read that some people had slung them there, I was concerned the bed may twist.
The manual i found online didn’t mention any lifting recommendations, only weight and grouting to the floor etc.
I had found a manual but there was no mention of where/how to lift the machine.
