    OT- bait for mouse traps?

My dad used a mouse trap that looked like a fiberglass box. You wound it up and it guillotined the mouse when it went in.

    Mastercam popularity

The GibbsCam I had was closer to $50k with everything.

Doosan MV3016 use pneumatic or hydraulic activated tool clamping ?

That model was out of production when I worked there, but I can tell you that the DNM uses a servo driven ATC arm. The drawbars are pneumatic. The MV was the older series, but I think still Pneumatic.

It's "Big Daddy" for a few reasons. Its interface is pretty straight forward, and its pricing was a bit more reasonable than many of the others. There are alternatives and they fit certain places that MC doesn't. I use PowerStation for most of my basic work. Inexpensive, you write your own...

    turret indexing adjustment?

The turret itself is slightly off radially. It will need to be re-aligned. Not difficult to do, any service person could do it. You may need to check the turret mounted holders as well, and make sure they're not unduly worn, and that the locator pins are not flat spotted or worn.

Need help to connect Doosan 2100A over network

PM me, I have a booklet that i wrote up when I worked for Doosan. It's not too bad a job..

Can not do it the old way it would kill me...

On conventional (manual) equipment, you could use water soluble, and many folk do. Cutting oil is ok, but I steer away from it as I dislike the smell. Regardless, I would install mist/smoke collectors on the machines and perhaps a ceiling mounted unit as @DDoug has suggested. Me, I'd go Trim...

CNC lathe tool nose compensation (G41/G42) troubles

Generally, with TNR, you can't "re-enter" a part. You also can't switch directions on the fly. If the controller only has one offset per tool you're stuck doing the math by hand (or CAM system) and generating the part that way. What machine/control is this?

Why don't you use conversational programming?

    I had a P&W StarTurn with a GE 7500

Why should I get a Fanuc control instead of a Mitsubishi?

Mitsu is a decent controller. This issue seemed to be support. MTB's and customers don't like hearing "sorry, you'll need a new drive" because some board is smoked after 15 years. That's why Doosan dropped them, and, yeah, they used to offer Mitsu as an option. However, the support was nowhere...

how are large custom machine foundations removed?

Why remove it? New equipment might require the same foundations.

Why don't you use conversational programming?

Agreed. Sorry if I made it seem that way. The G code on Mazak is there for good reason.

Why don't you use conversational programming?

I visited a shop that was running Mazak and frequently used Mazatrol programming. The people using it were very happy and it was mostly live tool/Y axis stuff. But Mazatrol does have a G code system as well, and I would think that would be ok. The Mazatrol is a fast processing control, either way.

    Lathe soft jaw basic questions

It works well, provided there's sufficient clearance when the jaws are open and the pull out speeds aren't too fast.

    Lathe soft jaw basic questions

I usually bore jaws about .02" larger than the diameter I have to grip. I use spacers to have the jaws clamp on. The adjustable boring rings are nice, too, but expensive and you have to watch the chucking pressures when clamping. I use steel most of the time except for very high speed...

Why don't you use conversational programming?

I've used both and for a variety of reasons. When I worked as a Doosan Training Coordinator - A/E, I would frequently have to program lathes and mills with Manual Guide i, to show how it worked and processed parts. I got pretty good at it, and it became second nature. On my own, I would program...

Looking for Programming insight - Fanuc 0T lathe

Well, with 50 years of working with CNC I have a lasting impression on what can happen. G50 can be used to set workpiece datum as well as max speed clamp. Something that I used to have to do on Fanuc 5 and Fanuc 6 before learning a better technique. On Fanuc 10 and later, the work coordinate...
