2013 VM2 door lock's killing me!

I use setting 51 to override the other VF's I have. I picked up this VM2 so I can try to keep up with orders but the doors are the biggest PIA for me and is driving me nuts. I do tight tolerance prototype work and might be in and out of the doors a dozen times while proofing and checking. Now I can't even change tools with the doors open let alone use an edge finder! 35 years running CNC and still have all my fingers but some idiots out there ruined it for us. AGHHHH!

I use setting 51 like you on my '93

On the newer machines, magnet on the sensor, I will also do only one side like that, then fully close other side to still have access etc while setting up part alignment probing or leaning in with an inspection mirror to make sure probe tip is hitting what I want, but still benefit from some coverage and safety. But really it's because I hate the unexpected shower I give myself when I bypass both doors

As always be careful

I'll figure something out cause this isn't working. I just put power to it last night and found how limiting it is. I'm not sure if I can use optional stop to move clamps or hold downs and clean away the pile of chips during a long roughing cycle or what about feed hold and turn the auger on and push chip to it? I do 5-10 set ups a day and count on being fast, this is not going to help.

The spindle has to be stopped to open the door, so modify your post to add an M05 before (and M03 after!) your M01 when you need to swap clamps or clean out chips etc...
The auger should be able to run with the door open, if not there should be a setting for it.
We have 2 "identical" VF3s but one has the control with the faux analog spindle load meter and it still has the door override setting while the other has the newer control and doesn't, guess which on I prefer for doing one-off and proofing jobs on...

On my 2015 I removed my right doors lock. I can open the right door when its running if I need to and only have to bump the left door open a couple inches when I need to activate the tool release button on the spindle. Kinda stupid, but bumping the left door open to remove/load tools through the spindle has become second nature.
