I'm considering a 1980's Holzher 1205 similar to the one pictured. Does anyone know if these saws allowed the back frame to be dismantled for transport? It's a long ride to do an inspection and the seller isn't knowledgeable enough to figure it out. As it stands, its about 16' x 8' tall which would be quite the operation for me to move as one chunk. Not so bad if it breaks down.

Not so easy to see in your pic. But most break down by removing the saw carriage and vertical beam, and then the frame splits in half horizontally. Still a few heavy parts. Save your money for a Striebig.

Hello The saw arage comes off then you remove the bottom legs and the back supports. The frame gets moved as one. I hope this is not to let.

You could cut the frame almost in half with an abrasive saw or reciprocating saw. Then weld it back to one piece if needed. I assume it would not be too hard to allow the carriage to go around extra bolt heads or braces.
