First time trying to cut 1" mild steel on an Amada Ensis 3015 AJ Fiber Laser, and turns out the machine doesn't have the proper cutting condition loaded in. The Amada tech left before finishing the setup and so far all that cuts well is the pierce at 12kw. Any suggestions, or cutting conditions that have worked for you? We get quite a bit of slag when cutting, and occasionally, when piercing, the material bubbles up.

Thank you all.

In my limited experience you need a long lead in with a gentle acceleration to get the pierce to turn into a cut. You can get terrible holes just because the cut never had a chance to stabilize.
My experience is with CO2 but you shouldn't need to change focus with steel thickness, so just power and speed and gas glow. Are you using nitrogen or oxygen?
