Looking at these to pick up aluminum bar stock and load onto our saw. They look interesting but I'm wondering if anybody has used them and has feedback/recommendations on styles or brands? Lifting 7"-11" diameter bars, 12' long.

Never seen these, but they make the same for picking up flat plates the same way.
If they pick up plates, I'm sure they will work well on pipe!

They use them where I work to pick up hot steel billets. Seem to work fine whenever I seen them used. The ones we have resemble your top right screen shot the most but not sure on brand as that is a tough environment and the paint and markings are most likely burnt off plus its been awhile since I have been in that area of the plant.

We're constantly switching between different diameter materials, any idea if they work well across a range of sizes? I see some of these have a range of 4 or so inches and some are specifically sized.
Nothing I've seen works for our specific 7-11" range, but I see some for maybe 8-12 or 6-10, think we could make that work? Mfg will obviously advise against it...

I no longer have a crane but this is a great idea if it works.

Down the page a bit there are some that have a little range. One is 7-12".

No mention of weight capacity. Might be an issue for solid bar.

Nothing saying that you could not fab up some inserts to match the work piece diameter. Something that, say, slips over the jaws of th efactory built tong, and gets locked in with a set screw or a pin (if possible).
