Looking for Help Bringing an Old Scotchman Back to Life!

Hello!
I just picked up an old Dvorak Little Scotchman (allegedly) at auction, but after getting it back to the shop, I can’t find any badges/model/serial, and the hydraulic pump and electronics are missing. What I thought was a steal is looking to be a long-term project at best. The machine was advertised as a Dvorak Little Scotchman 35 ton ironworker, however none of the photos on google look exactly like this machine. I removed the side cover, which is when I discovered the pump was missing. I just got off the phone with Scotchman parts department, and he’s sending over the manual for the machine he thinks it may be, and already let me know they no longer sell the hydraulic pump for that unit. I wanted to see if anyone has a machine that’s similar, what the model number is, and what the specs of the hydraulic pump are on their machine so I could try to match. Thanks everyone for helping to try and get this old girl back to life!

That machine was stripped. My guess is all the shear blades are missing, and there are no punches, punch holder, stripper, or dies.

You can retrofit an external 3hp 1250 psi hydraulic unit, but it won't fit inside.
I know because I own a Scotchman 314 ironworker.

My guess is it would cost much more than its value to get running.

The situation is not all bad. You learned an extremely valuable lesson. May you remember getting ripped off at auction forever.

Ha! Thanks for the silver lining! I didn’t take photos of the die sets, but they’re all there. I buy machinery at auction all the time, and I can honestly say this is the exception rather than the rule. I’ve got several starters laying around, so I just need the pump.

hopefully you bought it for near scrap value, that will need a ton of work, as the hydraulic pump assy id guess would be in the thousands. might be able to get a new power pack assembly to work with this machine from enerpac or something as you will need the solenoid switches and everything to run it.

...and then you'll have a used Scotchman ironworker....Why ?

I have a hydraulic unit out of a dumpster compactor on my tubing bender that would fit under there, so you should be able to find one that fits. Try Northern Hydraulics.
I will be surprised if the folks from Scotchman cannot help find a solution, as they are small town friendly when I need them.
Otherwise, how much do you want for it? ;)

Can you measure the cylinder ?
Dia will tell you the psi with whatever leverage there is to get the required tons.
Stroke will tell you volume yon need for a given cycle time.
Literature could well tell you pressure as well.
Depending how handy you are, you can get everything from Surplus Center, or ebay, to build your own power-pack.
Might even be worth configuring it so you could used it for a tube bender, or press, even a woodsplitter perhaps.
